Temple of the Four Winds - Pureora

Te Miringa Te Kakara, Temple of the 4 winds A place of peace and meditation

  • Temple of the Four Winds Pureora

There are several world wide spiritual connections made to the history of the cross house near Tiroa .

The Maori tangata whenua (Ngati Rereahu) speak of  two priests or spiritual leaders ( tohunga )  Te Ra Karepe and Ranga whei iua, who 1887 based their centre of teaching in Tiroa in a cruciform-shaped house and oral history talks of Te Miringa as being the place where Te Kooti ceased his war faring ways, accepting the peaceful views of Maori King Tawhiao. It is said that the four doors were to admit the four winds of the world

Other connections are made to Celtic traditions and to the legends of Lemuria.
