This is the centre of the North island and for some the centre of the universe (see temple of 4 winds)

 

From here you can head to do the Tongariro crossing, Rotorua, Taupo or Waitomo.

This is the heart of the Volcanic North Island.

 

Rotorua with it's Maori cultural attractions and Taupo with it's lake are little over an hour's drive.

 

Some of the things to do outside the park are climbing at Castle Rock, kayaking on the Ohura river and onto the mighty Whananui, blackwater rafting in Waitomo

Different scenery every day

 

 

Nearby site-seeing points of interest are Pa Harakeke, the Whakamaru Dam , Endeares Wood Mill, Waitomo Caves, Mangakino Lake, Castle Rock climbing, Kayak on the Ohura leading onto the great Wanganui river.

 

Rotorua, Taupo or the Tongariro Crossing are just over an hour's drive from Benneydale.
